It’s going to be many months before there is another live performance at New York’s Metropolitan Opera.
According to Peter Gelb, the Met’s General Manager, the opera house will remain closed until December 31st. It’s the Met’s longest interruption in over a century.
The decision leaves many of the company’s artists in dire financial straits because they haven’t been paid since March.
The company last performed live March 11th and is expected to lose some $100 million in revenue this season.
