The Bulgarian-born conceptual artist, known for his installation art, wrapping and festooning mountains, museums and bridges, has died.

Christo first came to prominence in the 1960s, when he strung a giant curtain across a mountain pass in Colorado.

He also wrapped Pont Neuf in Paris in gauze and and zigzagged thousands of saffron-curtained gates throughout New York’s Central Park, among others.

Christo died yesterday at his home in New York, no cause was given.

He was 84.
