As you know, the coronavirus pandemic has already caused the death of most of the planned live performances right across the arts world for this summer and now it’s killing the autmn.

As we reported last week, “Frozen,” which opened with Hamilton’s Cassie Levy in the lead role, won’t be back at all once Broadway begins to reopen.

Now, concert promoters, theatres, orchestras and dance companies are ripping up their 2020 calendars and hoping 2021 will mark a new beginning.

A survey of talent agents, who once hoped to bump their spring and summer tours to the fall, are now looking down the road a year or more, believing it’s safer for the artists to move to 2021.

Last week, the State Theatre of Hesse in Germany staged an evening of Schubert and Mahler.  Physical distancing meant that the 1,000 seat theatre, could only accommodate 200 patrons.  Names and addresses were recorded so those in attendance could be contacted later in case someone turned out to be infected.
