All City of Toronto summer camps have been cancelled but an alternative program is being prepared to get children safely back to camp through CampTO.
It would provide children with a camp experience; including traditional activities, while incorporating public health measures aimed at reducing the risk of spreading COVID-19.
If allowed to proceed, CampTO would provide 5,300 spaces-per-week for children aged  6 to 12 representing about half capacity of the typical City of Toronto camp.
Registration details will be announced once the province can safely remove restrictions on day camps.
Approximately 68,000 children had registered for the summer camps that were scheduled to run at nearly 200 locations from June 29 to September 7.
The city’s issuing refunds automatically, and given the large number of cancellations, registrants should expect to wait up to four-weeks for reimbursement.
Meanwhile, major festivals with more than 250 people have been cancelled through the end of July; events with over 25,000 cancelled to August 31.
