There is good news on efforts to develop a vaccine for COVID-19.
Drug giants Sanofi Pasteur and Glaxo Smith Kline are teaming up to create a vaccine for the new coronavirus which is based on Sanofi’s flu vaccine.
But it would also contain a booster from GSK that could help stretch doses of the vaccine further.
GSK CEO Emma Walmsley says they believe by combining the two companies’ scientific expertise and technology, they could accelerate efforts to develop an effective COVID-19 vaccine.
The companies’ researchers aim to start early clinical trials later this year.
There are dozens of efforts to develop a vaccine underway around the world, with most experts predicting it will take at least 12 to 18 months for one to be produced.
Sanofi Pasteur teams up with the Zoomers’ Group CARP for the annual launch of the flu vaccine, every October 1st in downtown Toronto on National Seniors Day.
