Ontario sees its first potentially COVID-19 related death.
A 77-year-old man from Barrie, who passed away March 11 at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.
He was a close contact of someone who had tested positive.
The man only tested positive after his death.
The coroner’s investigating to determine whether he died because of COVID-19 or with the virus.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams says the death is further evidence ”of the increasingly seriousness of the situation we are in, which is why the province has been taking decisive steps to manage the spread.”
The government earlier today declared a state of emergency.
Meanwhile, Ontario has 13 new cases; including a man in his 60s from York Region, who’d recently gone to Costa Rica.
