Given new confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Canada have been linked to travel in Iran, anyone arriving from that country will be asked to self-isolate for two weeks.
In announcing the measure, Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam calls the pattern ”very concerning.”
Meanwhile, Global Affairs Canada is updating travel advisories, recommending avoiding non-essential travel to Iran and northern Italy while also advising travellers to Japan to exercise a high degree of caution.
Dr. Tam says given the virus has spread to at least 60 countries, all travellers should take precautions.
”We have a more general message to all travellers – to self-monitor, to immediately self-isolate, avoid crowds and call ahead to health authorities when they’re sick,” added Dr. Tam.
Meanwhile, Ontario has three new cases for a total of 18.
