Positive tests results for two Canadians are keeping them aboard a quarantined cruise ship off Japan.
Public health experts say the two Canadians, two Americans, four Japanese, a person from Taiwan and another from New Zealand all tested positive for the novel Coronavirus.
Confirmation of the infections were part of a second round of tests, after the ship was quarantined in Yokohama following a confirmed outbreak of the potentially deadly bug on Tuesday.
Meantime, Canada’s foreign affairs minister Francois-Philippe Champagne says Canadians who want to leave the coronavirus epicentre of Wuhan, China will have three ways to get out.
They can fly out on the Canadian charter which has been delayed because of weather issues, get aboard a U.S. charter which has offered Canada some seats or the federal government can charter a second flight.
The chartered plane was delayed for take-off until Thursday evening local time, apparently because of a weather issue.
There are now 373 Canadians who’ve requested assistance to get out of Wuhan to escape the novel coronavirus.
