The repatriation flight out of China’s been delayed because of the weather.
Crosswinds closed a narrow window of time China has allowed for international evacuations, meaning 211 Canadians won’t be leaving until later tomorrow evening local time.
Foreign Affairs Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne says the government’s still mulling over options for the remaining Canadians who want out of Wuhan.
That could mean sending a second plane or securing seats on flights organized by the U.S. and other allies.
Ottawa’s already warning against all travel to central China and against all non-essential travel to other parts of the country.
Now Champagne says the government’s recommending Canadians already there to make arrangements to leave.
News of the delay came as Ottawa’s also reaching out to 251 Canadians stranded aboard a quarantined cruise ship where there’s been a confirmed outbreak of coronavirus off the coast of Japan.
Ten have tested positive but none is Canadian.
