OTTAWA SENDING PLANE TO CHINA TO BRING HOME CANADIANS AFFECTED BY CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

The federal government has a plane to fly Canadians out of the Chinese province at the centre of the coronavirus outbreak.
Foreign Affairs Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne says the next steps to secure co-operation from China to help the 160 Canadians who’ve requested assistance.
Global Affairs has also issued a new travel advisory telling people to avoid all non-essential travel to China.
Earlier in the week, the department warned against all trael to Hubei province.
Air Canada’s suspending direct flights to Beijing and Shanghai until the end of February.
Champagne could not confirm if any of the Canadians seeking repatriation are sick or are showing symptoms of the virus.
Health Minister Patty Hajdu cannot say yet if they might be required to go into quarantine.
