FORMER TTC BOSS RESIGNS POST AS NEW YORK'S TRANSIT CHIEF

Two years after Andy Byford left the TTC to head up New York City’s transit system, he’s resigning.

No reason was given, but there had been reported tensions, notably with Governor Andrew Cuomo who controls the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which includes the subways Byford oversaw.
While in New York, he’s credited with helping reduce subway delays by 25% and securing funding for a $51-billion overhaul of the transit network.
Byford was CEO of the TTC for over 7 years, helping improve customer service and spearheading needed state-of-good repair work, before leaving for New York at the end of 2017.
