The prestigious Gershon Iskowitz Prize has been awarded to renowned Vancouver public artist Ken Lum.
It’s awarded to an artist who has made an outstanding contribution the visual arts in Canada. The 63 year old artist, who is now based in Philadelphia, receives a solo exhibition at the AGO and a $50,000 cash prize.
Gershon Iskowitz was an artist who was born in Poland, survived the holocaust and immigrated to Canada in 1949.
The prize was established in 1986 two years before his death.
