1 DEAD, AT LEAST 8 HURT AS MORE QUAKES STRIKE PUERTO RICO

A 6.4-magnitude quake and several other strong aftershocks hit Puerto Rico this morning, killing at least one man and injuring others the day after a 5.8-magnitude tremor shook the island.

Damage and power outages have been reported near the southern coast, including in the city of Ponce, where a 77-year-old man and at least eight others were injured.
The 6.4 quake struck just of the southern coast.
The power authority reports widespread outages across the island after its power plants activated a protective mechanism.
Governor Wanda Vazquez Garced urged citizens to remain calm while the government responds.
No tsunami is expected according to the U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center.
The quakes come more than two year afters Hurricane Maria devastated the U.S. territory in September 2017.
