As students prepare to return to class Monday, Ontario high school teachers have announced their fourth one-day walkout.
It’ll take place January 8 at eight school boards: Peel District (the only GTA board that will be affected), Algoma, Huron-Superior Catholic, Greater Essex County, Avon Maitland, District School Board of Niagara, Limestone and Renfrew County.
The first such strike December 4 impacted all boards, while the two subsequent one-day walkouts targetted about a dozen boards.
Some French and Catholic and elementary schools have also been affected given the OSSTF represents support workers and professional staff.
A newly appointed mediator called off talks before the holidays, saying the two sides were far apart.
No talks are scheduled, however dates are expected this month.
