“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” opens in theatres across Canada and the U-S today and is on track to be one of the worst-reviewed films in the nine-movie series.

The latest installment, which is also the last of the original story lines, received positive reviews from 57% of critics tracked by Rotten Tomatoes. Only “Phantom Menace” from 1999 received a worse rating at 53%

Disney counting on “Skywalker” to revive excitement in the franchise after the last film “Solo: A Star Wars Story” was considered a disappointment.
