Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health plans to implement all 12 recommendations from an external review conducted after several high-profile patients went missing this past summer.

The recommendations include the immediate development of a secure outdoor area, better communication with police and electronic management of passes to reduce the number of disappearances.

The review was launched in July after three forensic patients were granted outside privileges and failed to return over the span of a few weeks.

One of those was a patient who’d been found not criminally responsible of murder in 2016, who fled the country and remains missing.
