Just days after Andrew Scheer announced his resignation, former interim leader Rona Ambrose has emerged as the top choice to become the next federal Conservative leader.
The latest survey by Angus Reid Institute finds both Ambrose and former Harper cabinet minister Peter MacKay have emerged atop the list of possible successors.

The poll also found Canadians are evenly split over who or what was to blame for the Conservative’s election loss.
Fifty percent says it was primarily Scheer’s fault while the other 50% say it was the party and its policies, not the outgoing leader.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s approval rating has risen to 36% to begin his second term, up from a low point of 31% last August.
