Personal information of 15-million Canadians may have had personal data breached in a cyberattack of LifeLabs.
This includes addresses, passwords, birthdays, health card numbers and lab results.
In an open letter to customers, LifeLabs says it had become aware of a recent hack to its computer systems but no word when this happened or who was responsible.
The lab services provider says most of those affected were in BC and Ontario.
LifeLabs says the hack involved 85,000 Ontario customers from 20-16 or earlier, but the company says it paid to have the data retrieved and that a police investigation’s underway.
