Virtually all Canadians who’ve made a career change say they’re happier since doing so.
Job site Indeed Canada polled just over 1,000 full-time employees from a variety of industries and education levels and found 38% had made a complete career change at some point.
Another 35% said they were either currently making a switch or have thought about doing so.
Of those who did switch careers, 87% said they’re happier since the change.
The survey also found better pay was the most common reason respondents changed careers; 63% said it was the main reason, while 57% said they switched because they wanted opportunity for growth.
And the decision to switch careers was not an overnight move.
The survey found 62% had thought about it for, on average, 11 months.
