A tentative agreement has been reached between CN Rail and Teamsters Canada which represents over 3,000 conductors, trainpersons and yard workers.
The union says in a statement that normal operations will resume at 6 a.m. local time across Canada.
A statement from CN Rail says staff will return to work at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The union thanked the prime minister for respecting workers’ right to strike as well as to the labour and transportation ministers who were ”instrumental in helping parties find common ground.”
The government had been under pressure from a number of affected industries and provincial governments to help end the week-long walkout.
