The Trump impeachment inquiry has heard a statement that appears to confirm the U.S. president was demanding a quid pro quo from Ukraine in order to receive some $400-million in military aid.

The U.S. Ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland confirmed that, telling the inquiry he was dealing, not only with Trump, but the president’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani.
Sondland dismissed the notion that he was part of some shadow group of diplomatic efforts led by Giuliani.
”The suggest that we were engaging in some irregular diplomacy … is absolutely false,” said Sondland.
The ambassador says Giuliani’s involvement came at ”the express direction of the president,” that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was also aware of the pressure campaign on Ukraine.
”Everyone was in the loop. It was no secret,” Sondland added.
Trump’s slammed the impeachment hearings as a ”disgrace.”
