Regular listeners to Classical FM are familiar with Antonio Vivaldi’s famous violin concertos, “The Four Seasons.”

Well now, a classical orchestra in Germany is aiming to “make climate change audible” with a reworking of Vivaldi’s music to include algorithms based on climate data.

It’s described as a collaboration between musicians, artists and software developers.

Using data relating to species extinctions, rises in global temperatures and extreme weather events, the composers claim to have developed algorithms which can “influence the notes on the original sheet.”

The composition, which the creators call “disharmonic” and “uncomfortable,” is scheduled to be performed in Hamburg on Saturday.
