Federal Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer and his caucus members will have their first meeting Wednesday since last month’s election.

Pundits expect some MPs at the Ottawa get-together will be listening for the level of blame Scheer accepts for the campaign that kept the Trudeau Liberals in power, albeit with a minority government.

There is a lot of speculation Conservatives are musing about moving Scheer out in favour of a new leader.

Political strategist Aleem Kanji told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer, there is no shortage of people who would be interested and it might serve the party well if they look outside of the caucus.

“We’ve seen what happens when we can change the leader from the outside,” Kanji explained, “We saw it with Premier Ford, somebody that wasn’t an MPP. That could hold some weight, maybe somebody who left who wants to come back, like a Peter MacKay.”

While the Conservatives scored more MPs and nabbed an historic victory in the popular vote, many within the party say they’re still in disbelief over the fact they fought a government that went through multiple scandals and still did not win.
