It started with a tweet.

“My son Kade had his 11th birthday party last night.  None of his invited friends came.  I’m asking my twitter friends to show him some love today.  If you have a minute please send him a birthday wish.”

Well, the Toronto Maple Leafs have done better than that.

Leafs Captain John Tavares and sniper Mitch Marner have announced that the team will fly Kade and his family from Newfoundland to this weekend’s game with Philadelphia at Scotiabank Arena.

As of Monday night more than 50,000 Twitter users had wished Kade a happy birthday.
