What are you doing at your home to reduce the amount of waste your family produces?

This is Waste Reduction Week in Canada. Ontario’s Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks calls it an opportunity to celebrate our environmental efforts, but also to encourage innovative ideas and solutions and help us all to start thinking in a more environmentally conscious way.

Jeff Yurek says unfortunately, Ontario’s waste diversion rate has been stalled at about 30 percent, meaning 70 percent of waste materials continue to end up in landfills.

Yurek is also taking the opportunity to promote the Ford PCs new plan to incentivize producers to redesign products to reduce waste and make them easier to recycle. The new model begins in 2023.
