In an effort to get the Ford government to reverse its budget cuts on services such as health care and education, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has kicked off its ”Communities Not Cuts” campaign.
”The goal is to keep fight back to build resistance against this agenda, to apply pressure, to reverse this attack,” says Fred Hahn, president of CUPE Ontario.
The union says it’ll be an ”aggressive, multi-year campaign,” where its members and others, in a union or not, to fight Doug Ford and defend vital public services and jobs.
”The Ford Conservatives are hurting Ontarians. That’s why CUPE Ontario will do what the government has refused to do and that’s listen to the people,” adds Hahn.
CUPE represents over 270,000 municipal, health care, school board, post-secondary education and social services workers.
