Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer is asking Liberal M-Ps on the Commons ethics committee to vote to continue the investigation into the SNC-Lavalin affair.
Speaking in Moncton, Scheer said he’s launching what he calls a ”grassroots campaign” to ask Canadians to pressure the six Liberals to vote on the matter.
“There are nine witnesses who were unable to participate, to cooperate with the ethics investigation because Justin Trudeau refused to grant them permission to do so. So we still evidence to this day that Justin Trudeau is going to great lengths to cover up the full truth from coming out,” said Scheer.
Meanwhile, the Conservative chair of the ethics committee’s called for an emergency meeting for this Wednesday to receive a briefing from commissioner Mario Dion, who found the prime minister violated the conflict of interest act for pressuring his then attorney-general to go easier on the engineering giant in its bribery case.
But Liberal MPs could shut down the meeting, since they hold a majority on the committee.
