A book by former Justice Minister and Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould is scheduled to be released about a month ahead of the October federal election.
It’s not about the SNC Lavalin scandal, during which Wilson-Raybould became a household name, it’s called Rebuilding Indigenous Nations for a Stronger Canada.
But she will certainly receive attention on the book tour and will almost certainly be asked about her ouster from the Liberal Party earlier this year.
Wilson-Raybould is now an Independent MP for Vancouver Granville.
During the SNC affair, she accused members of the Prime Minister’s Office of interfering in her decision around the SNC Lavalin bribery case.
In the past few days, we’ve learned former PM senior adviser Gerald Butts, who stepped down during the scandal, is back to help the Trudeau Liberals get re-elected.
Strategist Aleem Kanji told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer says he would be surprised if the Conservatives didn’t use ethics trust and accountability, as their issue to define the election.
“With Mr. Butts being back, and running the campaign as he did a number of years ago, and back in that inner circle, they’re (the Conservatives) are going to leverage that as their opportunity to say ‘enough of these guys, it’s time for us’,” Kanji explained.
The public opinion polls are tight right now, with the Conservatives leading nationally and the Liberals leading in Ontario.
