Feed Ontario has developed a new map, designed to show provincial politicians where the pockets of poverty are across the province broken down by electoral ridings.

Feed Ontario was formally called the Ontario Association of Food Banks.

The annual report from Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank showed that almost 1 million Torontonians use food banks with a 61% cent increased usage in the city’s inner suburbs.

The number of seniors over 65 using food banks has nearly tripled over the past ten years, going from 3% to 8%.

The Feed Ontario Map shows 3 ridings in Toronto accounting for the largest food bank use increase last year. They are: Toronto Centre, held by the NDP’s Suze Morrison, Scarborough Guildwood, held by the Liberals Mitzy Hunter and Etobicoke North, which is held by Ontario PC Premier Doug Ford, accounted for the biggest increases in food bank use in Toronto last year.
