The 79-year old author won the Booker in 2000 for “The Blind Assassin.”

In all there are 13 books and authors on the long list.  Six finalists will be announced September 3rd, the winner to be revealed October 14th.

The Booker was founded in 1969, with a prize of $88-thousand and open to English-language authors from around the world.
