Further developments have been made in the quest to understand and treat Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
Scientists say they have developed a blood test that could be used to screen people for possible signs of the disease.
The Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in LA heard on Monday that this particular experimental test seems 88% accurate.
Dr. Richard Hodes with the U-S National Institutes of Health says the new results are ”very promising” adding that this mean doctors can now look to intervene with clinical trials and experimental treatments at a time before changes in the brain have occurred
Roughly 50 million people are living with dementia worldwide.
