Boeing says it’ll provide an ”initial investment” of $100-million over several years to help families and communities affected by the crashes of two its 737 MAX jets.
The crashes in Indonesia last October and in Ethiopia this past March killed 346, including 18 Canadians.
The payout’s independent of lawsuits filed by families of the victims.
The plane manufacturer is in settlement talks over the Indonesian legal action and has offered to negotiate with families of the Ethiopian crash victims, though some have said they’re not ready to settlement.
