City of Toronto staff recommend a new city-owned agency be responsible for more than 80 seniors-designated Toronto Community Housing Corporation buildings.
Staff suggest this new division be formed sometime next year; possibly responsible for 10 of the 83 buildings at first, and all of them by 2022.
The staff report, which goes before the city’s executive committee Thursday, says the cost would be $1.78-million in 2020, then rise to between $5 and $6-million in 2022.
But city staff anticipate there will likely be some savings to offset that increase.
Under the proposed plan, TCHC would retain ownership of the buildings.
