Canadian funny man Dan Aykroyd is famous for a lot of things, most likely as a member of the Blues Brothers.

The 66-year old Zoomer legend says the inspiration for the “Blues Brothers” movie was Canada’s Downchild Blues Band.

This Saturday night, Aykroyd will be in town, on stage again with Downchld, as the TD Toronto Jazz Festival celebrates the band’s 50th anniversary.

Also sitting in; David Letterman’s former band leader and Thunder Bay native Paul Shaffer as well as Toronto blues legend David Wilcox.

Aykroyd says “Downchild” is like the Tragically Hip and Colin James, part of the fabric of Canadian music.
