The mayor’s announced a ”charity challenge” for fans of both teams chasing the basketball title.
Raptors fans can donate to the SickKids Foundation while Warriors fans can donate to the Alameda County Community Food Bank and San Francisco-Marin Food Bank.
”Our @SickKids patients are ready to cheer on the @ Raptors, are you?” asked Tory in a message posted to Twitter.
”Help our city win on and off the court by supporting the @SickKids Foundation.”
In addition, Tory and Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf have placed a friendly wager.
Should the Raptors win, Schaaf’s offered up Oakland’s finest beer, coffee, hoodies and barbecue sauce.
If the Warriors win, Tory would send beer, Tim Hortons coffee, a peameal bacon sandwich and Toronto-centric apparel her way.
”Looking forward to a great @Warriors + @ Raptors #NBAFinals that grabs international attention for bringing together two dynamic teams from two world-class, inclusive cities,” Schaff posted on Twitter.
