If you or someone you know has had their licence suspended because of a decades old, unpaid traffic ticket, Toronto courts were eventually going to find you.
X-Copper’s Jenna Little told Zoomer Radio’s ”Fight Back” with Libby Znaimer, it’s been a ”widespread” problem for ”quite a few years,” but that there’s a been a crackdown since late last year after the city auditor-general’s report.
“I’ve seen them (licence suspension) for as small as $85 for a speeding ticket or a lane change violation to $20,000 for driving without insurance multiple times.  I’ve seen it range from something 25-years ago to something from 10-years ago,” Little told ”Fight Back”.
She points out if you have moved and you’re in the middle of a traffic ticket dispute, you must let the courts and provincial Ministry of Transportation because their computer systems are not linked, otherwise the notice of fine and due date will be sent to the old address.
