Ontario’s integrity commissioner’s citing ”insufficient grounds” to investigate the firing of OPP deputy commissioner Brad Blair; a vocal critic of the controversial, failed selection of Ron Taverner as commissioner.

J. David Wake says there’s no evidence to suggest Blair was fired at the suggestion of the premier or that Doug Ford was involved in any way.
After the announcement that longtime Ford family friend Toronto police Supt. Ron Taverner would be named OPP commissioner, Blair, who also wanted the job, took steps to challenge the decision.
He sought a court order to have the Ontario Ombudsman investigate the hiring, and released OPP documents indicating Ford wanted the provincial police to provide him with a customized van.
In early March, the government fired Blair.
Soon after, Taverner withdrew his name from consideration for the job and York Regional police deputy chief Thomas Carrique was appointed top provincial cop.
