CANADA'S TOUGH NEW TOBACCO PACKAGING

This story is for you if you’re one of the dying breed that still hasn’t kicked the habit.

Starting in November, you’ll be smoking cigarettes out of plain, drab, brown packages with standardized layouts and lettering.

Health Canada is bringing in the toughest anti-smoking packaging rules in the world. The agency figures the graphic health warnings about the dangers of smoking and keeping the packs from getting lost amid colourful designs and branding will aid in the fight to curb tobacco use.

The government want to reduce tobacco use among Canadians to just 5% by 2035.
