If you’ve been to an NFL tailgating party in the U.S., soon it appears you’ll get to experience something similar here in Ontario.

A published report this morning says as part of the provincial budget this Thursday, the Ford Progressive Conservatives at Queen’s Park will make it legal for teams to allow American style tailgating outside stadiums and arenas.

Fans would be able to bring their own booze to games and sit beside their parked vehicles and drink and barbecue their own food.

The Toronto Sun quotes an unnamed government source as saying, “obviously all the laws still apply and police will still be checking for drinking and driving.”

The amendment to an Ontario law would also allow permit holders to sell their own alcohol on their premises, like setting up a beer tent outside the stadium, something the Toronto Argos recently tried.
