Doug Ford is defending plans to change the Ontario licence plate slogan.
The premier says people wanted change, voted for change and are getting it.
The government is considering putting ‘Open For Business’ on commercial plates and something different for passenger vehicles.
Ford says the changes will be revealed in the April 11 budget and will come at no cost to taxpayers.
Opposition politicians are slamming the move.
NDP Leader Andrea Horwath says Ford’s using licence plates to advertise his campaign slogan, calling it ”disgraceful.”
Interim Liberal Leader John Fraser thinks the government should ask Ontarians first before making any changes.
”It’s Ontario’s plates, not the premier’s plates,” adds Fraser.
Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner says it’s ”absolutely ridiculous to be wasting taxpayer money on this.  It’s completely inappropriate for one of the premier’s campaign slogans to be on our licence plates.”
‘Yours To Discover’ was brought in by the government of Bill Davis in 1982, replacing ‘Keep It Beautiful’.
