Wait times are little changed over the last two years in this province for priority procedures such as hip and knee replacements, cataract surgery, hip fracture repair and radiation therapy. And wait times in Ontario are also better than the Canadian average.

A report just released by the Canadian Institute for Health Information reveals that 84 percent of Ontario residents received a hip replacement within the recommended wait time of 6 months in 2018, compared with 85 percent in 2016.

For knee replacements, around 80 percent received the surgery within the recommended six months last year and in 2016.

Seventy percent of residents received cataract surgery within the recommended wait time of 16 weeks in 2018, unchanged from 2016.

When it comes to hip fracture surgery, 87 percent received the repair within the recommended wait time of 48 hours in 2018, compared with 85 percent in 2016.

And nearly 100 percent of residents received radiation therapy within the recommended wait time in 2018, basically unchanged from 2016.
