A heads up to those who live and / or work in Etobicoke – specifically the ”Six Points” neighbourhood.
After more than 10 years of planning, construction to reconfigure the ”Six Points” intersection, known locally as spaghetti junction, began in March 2017.
But starting Friday March 8 at 7 p.m. until Tuesday March 12 at 5 a.m., Kipling Avenue will be fully closed between Dundas Street West and Bloor Street West to allow for the removal of the two bridges in the area.
During this time, road users are encouraged to take these alternates to travel NORTH ON KIPLING:
–Go west on Dundas (south of Bloor), north on Aukland Road and east on Bloor West to rejoin Kipling Avenue
or
–Go west on Dundas (north of Bloor) and use the Dundas/Kipling ramp to rejoing Kipling Avenue
To travel SOUTH ON KIPLING:
–Go west on Bloor, south on Aukland Road and east on Dundas West to rejoin Kipling Avenue
or
–Good south on Dunbloor Road and west on Dundas West to rejoin Kipling Avenue.
This work will take around the clock in order to finish the removal of the bridges as quickly as possible and to reduce traffic congestion and disruption.
Expect delays and incresed traffic on neighbouring streets.
A number of TTC and MiWay routes that travel along Kipling will also be affected.
Residents are also advised that overnight work will be noisy with concrete saw-cutting, grinding and removal with beeping sounds from reversing trucks.
