Invitation accepted.
Jody Wilson-Raybould has agreed to testify before the Commons justic committee that’s probing the SNC-Lavalin affair Wednesday afternoon (3:15pm).
The former attorney general and justice minister agreed after receiving a broad waiver that allows her to disclose details of her conversations with government officials about the prosecution of the Montreal engineering and construction giant.
Wilson-Raybould has also been granted an extended, uninterrupted 30-minutes for her opening statement before committee members ask questions.
The prime minister says he’s ”pleased” she will be able to share her perspectives.
”It’s important that people get an opportunity to testify, or share their point of view, at committee,” said Justin Trudeau heading into the weekly cabinet meeting.
”As we said, waiving privilege, waiving cabinet confidentiality is something that we had to take very seriously, but I’m pleased that Ms. Wilson-Raybould is going to be able to share her perspectives.”
