With all of these temperature fluctuations, it’s quickly becoming pothole season in Toronto.

And it turns out it is an annual event, with potholes the number one complaint to the city run 311 line last year.

And where will you find the most potholes in Toronto?

Last year, Ward 8 (Eglinton-Lawrence) nudged Ward 12 (Toronto-St. Paul’s) out of top spot for the most pothole 311 complaints at 1657, and Ward 11 (University-Rosedale) rounded out the top three at 1214 complaints.

Potholes can come with a big price tag for drivers when they cause damage to cars. They’re also a danger for cyclists, leading them to fall or sweve into traffic.

But potholes are also costing taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars, in the form of pothole damage claims from $245,000 in 2015 to $807,000 last year.

Listen for more on Toronto’s pothole problems and what’s been done to address them on Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer Thursday after the noon news.
