A new national campaign, honouring a 57-year-old woman who ended her life with medical assistance, calls on the federal government to amend the assisted dying rules.

Audrey Parker of Halifax died with medical help November 1, two years after she’d been diagnosed with terminal breast cancer.

Dying With Dignity Canada has released a video message Parker recorded three days before she died.

In it, she’s urging Canadians to speak out for the rights of those who’ve been approved for medical assistance in dying, but are suffering.

Dying With Dignity’s urging MPs to change the provision requiring people to confirm their wish for assisted dying right before the procedure’s provided.

In her video, Parker says the current rules forced her to play a cruel game of chicken and choose to died instead of being able to spend Christmas with family.
