Bike lanes on four downtown Toronto streets should become permanent.

That recommendation comes from a staff report, which wants bicycle dedicated lanes on Richmond and Adelaide streets (between Bathurst and Parliament streets), on Simcoe Street (between Front and Queen streets) and on Peter Street (between Queen and King streets).
The report also recommends changes be made to traffic and parking rules on Adelaide, and moving the bike lane from the south to the north side.
Staff believe making them permanent will help encourage even more cyclists without significantly impeding traffic or emergency services.
The report goes to the city’s infrastructure and environment committee on January 17 and before city council January 30.
