Back in Washington from a 29-hour trip to Iraq where he visited U.S. troops, Donald Trump’s again focusing on the partial government shutdown, now into day six.

The president took to Twitter this morning, saying ”we desperately need” a wall on the border with Mexico, funding for which has resulted in tensions between the White House and Congress.
Trump is calling on Democrats to fund the wall, saying the shutdown affects their supporters.
”Do the Dems realize that most of the people not getting paid are Democrats?”
Lawmakers are away for the holidays and have been told they’ll get 24-hours’ notice before having to return to Washington for a vote.
Hundreds of thousands of government workers are on unpaid leave and even more are required to work without pay after the president and Congress could not reach consensus on a short-term funding bill.
Trump vows not to move off his budget demand, saying he’ll do ”whatever it takes” to get money for border security.
