Concerned over possible job action by power workers who have rejected Ontario Power Generation’s contract offer, the Ford government’s recalling the legislature Monday.
Members of the Power Worker’s Union, who’ve been without a contract since March 31, have issued a 21-day strike notice to OPG.
They’re in a legal strike position as of December 26.
Energy Minister Greg Rickford says the government’s prepared to take any steps necessary; including back-to-work legislation, to resolve the dispute and prevent a strike which he says could lead to power outages.
Rickford adds seven to 10 days would be the first potential scenario for outages.
