A North York high school student who drowned on a school trip last year has been honoured.
A plaque was unveiled in tribute to 15-year-old Jeremiah Perry of C. W. Jeffreys Collegiate Institute.
The school also named its gym after him.
Jeremiah drowned during a field trip to Algonquin Park in July 2017.
It was later revealed that he had failed a swim test before going on the trip.
In fact, almost half the 32 teens had failed.
Nicholas Mills, a teacher at the school, faces a charge of criminal negligence causing death.
Police say he was responsible for supervising students on the trip.
