There is no caesar salad on the menu, at least in the short term.

Health experts in the U.S. and Canada are telling us to stop eating romaine lettuce because of a new E.Coli outbreak.

Dr. Laura Gieraltowski is with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and says the outbreak has sickened 18 people in Ontario and Quebec, and 32 people in 11 American states.

“We want people to not eat or buy romaine lettuce, and that includes whole-head romaine, hearts of romaine, romaine that could be in a salad mix while our investigation continues,” Gieraltowski clarifies.

The strain identified is different than the one linked to romaine earlier this year, but appears similar to last year’s outbreak linked to leafy greens.

The contaminated lettuce is likely still on the market.

Most romaine sold this time of year is grown in California.
